Eight year old male being cared for by a paternal aunt. Mother sent him out of state with another relative with no plans whatsoever for his subsequent care. Aunt, therefore, took him in and paid for all expenses related to his care.
Mother is neglectful, has abused drugs, and recently was living in a tent in another state. She has no employment and has now shacked up with a "boyfriend".
The father has given temporary custody to the Aunt. Now "mom" wants to come and get him because she was recently accused of being a bad mom.
In other words, "mom" uses the son as a pawn in her psycho world.
What rights may the Aunt have? Get CPS involved? Paternal grandma is not in favor of biological mother raising the boy. Multiple family members have called CPS to report neglect and bad behavior (drugs/alcohol) by parents when child was in the their physical custody. Unless he was "hit", they would do nothing.
Advise per the law>?
