24" bathroom door is too small for a wheelchair.
and the jambs are also bad. To put a new 30" prehung
Interior door, we would have to take part of the wall out.
The toilet roller on the other side would have to be relocated.
The toilet itself is about 12" away from the wall. I wonder
how much of the wall I would have to remove 6" or more. I do not
Know the overall measurement of the 30" door with the jambs attached.

A 30 inch door is 30 inches. That is to say that the 30" is the width of the door itself. A 30" door will require at least a 31 3/4" opening in the wall. Common practice to make a 32" opening. Don't think a wheelchair will make it through a 30" door, but check. Need a 36" door.

Yep, 36 for handicapped doors. Maybe this is worth reading http://www.johnsonhardware.com/images/pdf/handicap_acc.pdf

If the door is framed for a 24, you would need to remove 6" of wall. You need a rough opening of 32" wide which is the door and the jambs plus some wiggle room. The top should be the same. If you buy a prehung door, it will tell you the RO on the frame.
