No. Your medical history is private, between you, and your Doctor.

Your doctor will know that you have had an abortion even if you don't tell her. She will also question you about your past medical history and if your fiance/husband is with you, he will overhear. It's better to just let him know ahead of time. Otherwise you will have to speak to your doctor in private.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with this. Although I am not a doctor, I am an OB/GYN nurse and we can only tell if a woman has been pregnant before. Through exam alone there is no way to tell whether a patient has had an abortion if she does not tell us.

You can tell your doctor that you had the abortion. He/she is not allowed to tell your husband. You can also tell the doc that you prefer that your husband doesn't know since it was in your past.

It is important that the doctor know, particularly if you have a negative blood type (like A- for example) so that you have a healthy pregnancy.

I am not a nurse or a doctor, but had an abortion when I was young. Years later after I changed doctors, the new doctor was explaining to a resident who was observing her how "clean" my uterus was. She could tell.

You will have an issue of course, who else knows, your best friend, a neighbor, if someone that knows you says something and lets it slip. How bad will it be if he finds out lets say 4 years latter, and he feels you have keep this lie.

While he does not need to know, I don't believe in big lies to start a relationship off with

It's not the uterus, but the cervix that tells us if a woman has ever been pregnant before.

The cervix is very smooth and shiny UNTIL a pregnancy occurs. Once there is a pregnancy, whether it ends up as a live birth, miscarriage or abortion, there is a permanent dimple in the cervix.

That's how we tell if anyone has ever been pregnant before. You can't look at the uterus like you can the cervix.
