This movie was made sometime before the year 2000 I think. I am certain that in the movie it was first of all, very touching... I remember crying at the end (!)... there was a mother who was supposed to build a white staircase up into a tree that lead to nowhere, and she kept climbing it and must have been getting messages from her daughter maybe (?) who must have died, and she didn't believe it, she would climb the staircase... and nothing would happen then one night... she was able to believe and something happened... I just remember a white staircase... and a carpenter and how she thought it was crazy... and how emotional it was... maybe it was a hallmark movie... wish I knew the title! Thanks for help. I googled this "movie about lady building a staircase in tree" and got really nothing back.

Close but not the movie thank you for trying... looks interesting I'll have to watch it! My movie has a distinct spiral staircase and I thought it was white, and it is architecturally interesting I remember because I have been a draftsman in an architects office... beieve that's why when was surfing the stations I stopped to watch.
