We can't sem to figure out how to disconnect the gas line from the old dryer. When we try turning it the flex line just keeps coiling up

Hi Julie...

Obviously, you'll need to shut the gas off... just wanted to be sure on that... ;)

Then, take two wrenches and use them at the disconnect fitting at the flexible connector. Here, use one wrench on one side of the fitting and the other wrench on the tapered nut (see image below)... loosen appropriately and you should be all set.

If you will not be replacing the dryer quick off then please install a cap/plug into the gas piping so that gas cannot leak by the shutoff until you install the new dryer/new dryer connector... another, "just in case", OK?

Finally, after installing the new connector/dryer, please also check for leaks using a gas leak detector soap.. sold at all home improvement stores. Here, you soak all joints tightened/installed and look for bubbles to appear. If no bubbles appear then BOTH of us can rest easy... :)

Questions? Let us know...

Gas lines use a flare fitting and nut. Hold the line with you hand and turn the nut. Once nut has backed off a turn or so the line will stop trying turn.
