Hi
I am desperately looking for some help.
I am a postdoc on a E3 visa and my family (wife and 2 kids) on E3D visas. I arrived in the USA on 2/14/2010. The uni has only withheld a total of 7$ a month fed taxes. My income is 43K.

1) is this the correct amount that I am paying in fed taxes.
2) do in need a ITIN for my kids or SSN. My wife has a SSN as she has a EAD. NOt worked except for some baby sitting jobs.
3)I have a house in Aus that we are renting and have to cover a major share of the mortgage. Can I include this in my return.
4) when is do an estimate on turbotax it states that I am due 1200$. So do I need to complete a new W-4 and what would need to indicate on it.

Please help

Confused

You can file joint return as residents and claim the kids. You must both report the worldwide income including rent income in your country. Your U.S. Tax Return: U.S. Citizen or Resident with Foreign Income (http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/03/us-citizen-or-resident-with-foreign.html)
