Hello,

I've just moved out of my apartment. I had been there since August of 2001, and paid a $200.00 pet deposit, plus $10.00 extra per month, to have my cat. Upon moving out, the letter I received from them, stated that I had only been there since Sept. of 2004, (I'm getting proof from several utility companies stating otherwise) and that the damages were "above and beyond" and that we now owe them $299.00 more. The letter excluded the pet deposit and when I called to ask why that was left out, I was told that it "only allowed me to have a pet" and that it's "not meant to cover any damages"... that does NOT sound right to me and I've tried researching online, but have come up empty. Any help would be nice.

Thank you

The pet deposit is to go against pet damages, the monthly fee is just a pet charge.

It appears they have your paperwork wrong, and needs to correct it.

If the pet did do seroius damage, more than the deposit, then they can bill you more. That is why it is very important to do a walk though with the apartment management when you are turing the apartment over to them, to get it all in writing
