My husband fell down some icey stairs a little over a month ago, it was only three steps. But, ever since then he's had really bad back pain right at the connection point between the spine and the tail bone. We thought at first it was just maybe bruised from the fall and we thought it would heal. Then after it didn't go away we thought maybe it was a pinched nerve or a sore muscle because of the impact. We've tried muscle rubs, I've given him massages, the heating pad, and ice. The only 2 changes there was, was it almost didn't hurt for about maybe 2 days and we kept doing the treatmeants the entire time. About 3 or 4 days ago his upper back right underneath his left shoulder wrapping around towards his ribs and I'm wondering if the problem has spread and the two are connected? Or what else it might could be?

He needs to be seen to make sure that there is no fracture or break.

Could it be anything other than a fracture or a break? It doesn't hurt him to stand or bend over but it does hurt to sit and the action of sitting down and getting up. That's why we didn't think it was a fracture or a break because he could stand and walk just fine without any pain coming from the upper part of his butt bone.
