My friend has asked me to wipe her PC so she can start from new Apparently she has just been given it from her ex works, It has XP Pro installed on it, I've booted up with XP cd inserted but it won't install or read the CD it just boots up to a log on screen with a log on name the password is the same as the log on name, When I go into control panel to user Accounts there's one log only it's Administrator I do not know the password plus what ever I try to do it says I don't have Administrators rights when I've also been into the command prompt there again I have no joy,, you don't have Administrators rights so access denied, I have also tried to use System Restore but no luck again, Any advice please... Thank you.

You need to go into the BIOS and make sure it's booting from the CD first.
There is nothing within the OS that will help.

...it just boots up to a log on screen That sounds like a BIOS password setup. You won't get anything done unless the previous owner gives you that password. There is a way to short out something on the motherboard to try to bypass this but it takes some technical knowledge and it's different per make/model.

What does it do?
You have to be much more detailed. Does it display anything, does it beep, does it..
