I have no water coming out of my kitchen faucet. It was working last night and every other facuet in the house is running. All other faucets are on the opposite side of the house. It's a single spout. The name brand is not visible. I tried the spray but nothing. The pipes feel cold but don't look frozen. Temperature is 9degress F. What could it be?

First make sure you know were your water shut off is. Then open doors under sink and use small electric heater on low to thaw pipes in wall out. Hopefully they didn't break when they froze.In the future leave doors open under sink when its going to get that cold.

Sounds frozen to me, too! The pipes may not feel frozen under the sink, but a few feet (or more) further away from the sink they are probably frozen.

Here, open the faucet and then take a hair dryer and start to thaw out the pipes under the sink. If the pipes are made from copper then that is perfect as the pipes will conduct the heat along the pipes and thaw them out quickly!

When the pipes start to thaw you should hear sputtering and should see dripping and finally full flow. You will need to do this to the hot water and the cold water pipes. If you are lucky that is all that will be needed here. If you are slightly unlucky, you may have a frozen pipe that thaws to reveal a BURST pipe so be sure you know where the main water shutoff is... just in case, OK?

Once this is resolved I would recommend that on really cold nights you leave the cabinet doors open and the faucet dripping warm water and when you can, find the real issue, like more insulation needed between the outside wall and the pipes and see if you can resolve this permanently!

Start here and let me know what happens...

Under sink where pipe comes out of wall, there is a valve. Shut it off and remove feeder hose that goes to sink.Put a pan or bowl under valve and open very slowly.If water comes out, then problem is with faucet.

Do this test and let us know outcome. Then we can help u.

In a house I used to live in the kitchen pipes ran along the wall and under the house (crawl space no basement). A hair dryer just wouldn't do the trick so I opened the hole in the plaster board a little more and poured boiling water from a tea kettle very slowly through a small funnel so it would drip down the pipe. I wouldn't worry too much about enlarging the hole, since if the pipe freezes and splits, a large section of the walll board will have to be removed anyway to repair the leak. Don't turn off the water but find the main shut off before you start. Once the water starts to run a little, it will thaw itself the rest of the way. You will have to do both the hot and cold lines separate. Do the hot first and once it's done, shut off the water and if you still hear water running the pipe is burst behind the wall. If that's the case turn off the hot water at the water heater and continue with the cold line. If that one leaks too (which it will if the hot line did) shut off the main water and call a plumber or handy man friend.

Thank you all for your help. Chuck I tried what you said, yes frozen pipes. Water was frozen in there. In process of putting heater. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there is no broken pipes.

Do as Mark recommended in post #3. If pipes are not broken then would leave both hot and cold running a little when temp is near freezing.
