Is there a way to convert a stationary chandelier light to a type of track light? We want to be able to slide the fixture to the center of the dining room table when the leaves are in it. Then move it back again when the leaves are out. If not a track light can you suggest some type of "rail" or "glider" option we might have? Thank you

Most track systems offer a hook accessory to do exactly what you want.
First a power feed connector is needed for the cord:
LIGHTOLIER - Lighting that Makes a Difference (http://www.lightolier.com/products/index.jsp?CATREL_ID=15581&BLK=N&CAT_ID=10299)
Then a non-wired support hook is needed to hang the fixture.

Keep in mind any maximum weight ratings, of the track and the support accessory, as both need to be strong enough to support the weight of the chandelier.
I suggest you visit a lighting store to determine the best product available to suit your needs.
Do not try any of the home improvement centers.
