My husband was married once before where he had a daughter; he went to court and was issued child support for an amount. He also has a child from a girlfriend that he willing pays child support for and has for the kids whole life (paternity test confirmed that he is the father). We met and married a few years after this. My question is, we have two children together and the child support combined is over 30% of what we make. Should we take them both to court and get it re-evaluated, or is this a pretty fair amount? My husband is army and pays all the dental and medical costs. His ex-wife claimed his daughter this year on taxes when she wasn't suppose to and the IRS returned our return, but I filed a new one and I am going to send in a copy of the Divorce Decree stating it was our year (every even year). Would it be beneficial to go to court? Or would we just end up paying more? It's hard since we are trying to support the kids we have together, but when a good chunk of your paycheck goes to these women that live off every government expense, it's hard. Any advice welcome!

The amounts sound low if its 30% of what he "makes". Most states would have it at around 15% per child of the gross amount. There is a huge difference there. As far as the children from the current relationship they would be last in line until his other obligations ended.

If the 30 percent is of HIS pay for two kids, that is very very low. Normally it is 20 to 25 percent just for one child. Add to that a second child, and even getting up to 50 percent of his pay is not unheard of.

So if this is 30 percent of "his" pay, you may want to be thankful and not say anything
