I would like to install track lighting on the top of our kitchen cabinets to illuminate the ceiling. It appears this would be an "upside-down" installation. Safety and stability are my prime concerns.

Can this be done safely ?

Are there specific brands which are more suitable to this application ?

Pretty much any brand will do what you want. As for stability any track will need to be securely mounted to the shelf of the cabinet. For safety, be careful if you use MR16 lamps, or any halogen lamp, as they get very hot.

Have you considered strip fluorescent fixtures? This will give a more even light distribution, rather than the spot or flood pattern of a track head. To imitate the color of incandescent lamp, you may want to use a 3000 K lamp with a 80 CRI.

All depends on the type of illumination you are looking for.

Thanks for the quick response. I get some of each and see what we like best.
