Hi there
I need help. I have a whisper heat furnace by Lennox but don't know much else about it. My furnace "clicks" loudly between 2-10 times every time the furnace starts up. I was concerned and called the hydro company to come and take a look. All they ended up doing is removing the flame sensor and cleaning it. Not even one day passed until the constant clicking returned. I don't know if anything else would create a similar noise. What could it be and what should I do?
Thank you
Elmer

Why not try cleaning the flame sensor again yourself. Might try sanding very lightly with fine sandpaper.

Not even one day passed until the constant clicking returned. Is it constant, or 2-10 times? There is a big difference.

I don't know much about these things, but it could be a piezo flame igniter clicking. You know, like a gas cooktop.

Its been cleaned now a few times. When I said 2-10 times I meant from one time to the next it varies, 2 times is the least I've heard it do and 10 times is the most I've counted and everything in between on separate occasions it's not consistent

Every time the furnace starts up I know it will need to "click" a few times before the Cunard is lit it's just a gamble the least I've heard is 2 and the most I've heard is 10, and every other amount in between at one point or another. I have heard that I can have an electrician come out and replace it and that costs roughly $200 or so, but when the sensor costs around $10 I was looking for a cheaper more permanent fix. Thanks for your help, I'll try cleaning it again

Just during fireup

Then I would almost guarantee it is the igniter and nothing is wrong.
