Has anyone other than my late husband been made bankrupt after their death in this county or is this unheard of,my husband died in sept 09 he had signed a 2 year lease 2 months before, the landlord filed for bankruptcy nearly 12 months later, this was approved by the judge but he did say he had not come across this in over twenty years.

Not sure what you are talking about,
If husband passed away and had a lease, the estate would have been liable for the lease at the time of death.
The estate would have to pay unless there was a death clause, if there was no money in the estate to pay, the estate does not file bankruptcy, they merely notify creditors there is no money in the estate and close it.
If the landlord filed bankruptcy, and the late husband had a lease, I don't see how this effects the late husband, since the lease would have been long ago handled by the estate
