I have been in a very abusive relationship. My parents just bought me the house and now he thinks it is all his and he owns it.I am the only one on the house note. He never was. He cannot get a house, car, etc. He has horrible credit. His name is not on one single thing. His mail doesn't even come to the house. He is not there everyday and his acctual address is over 500 miles away. He has locked himself in there and police say they can bust the door open to let me in, but I will have a broken door. So, I was told to put it up for sale. Since he has a house of his own (this is what he says) why not move? He has threatened my life and put me in the hospital. I WANT HIM GONE FOR GOOD. Can I sale the house to get him out for good? I rezide in Arkansas

You would rather sell the house at a loss then pay to fix a door? You need to get your head on straight. Have the police remove him and get an order of protection against him to keep him away from you!

Yes, so you break the door down.

And no you can not sell it for one dollar if there is a loan on it, you will have to at leat sell it for enough to pay the loan.

Just get him out, he was living there, so you may have to evict him, but he can not lock you out, just break in, or hire a lock smith to open the door for you.

So why don't you have a key for your own home?

Yes, you can sell your home for a dollar provided you are in your "right mind". However, if you have a mortgage on the home or other encumbrances a dollar may not give the new owner clear and free title.

I would hire a locksmith to open the door (approx. $35-$60) and have the police on stand-by to take him away, if and only if, he has no rights to the property and you can prove abuse.

Goodluck!
