We moved from Indiana to Florida for our new full time jobs. I'm sure we pass the distance test, but what about the time test? There isn't that much time between October and the end of the year... if that's what the test means. We are still employed full time.

As long as the move was within the tax year.

Technically, you are supposed to file without claiming the moving expenses, wait until you meet the Time Test, then amend the return to claim the moving expenses.
However, NO ONE DOES THAT! Most people claim the moving expenses, then amend to "unclaim" the deductions if by chance they cannot complete the Time Test. Given the circumstances and exceptions embedded in the deductions, about 95% of people complete the Time Test.
