Can you give us any more info?

Sorry I'm getting used to the website and re-posted the question when I saw it had gone through with just the title.
It's a film I remember from my childhood, about 30 years ago, but it may have been an old film even then.
I think it was colour though.
A boy has a bird as a pet, but the bird can't fly and a group of kids don't believe him so they start to throw stones at the bird. You then see the bird is dead and surrounded by stones.
This is a vivid memory from my childhood, but no-one else seems to remember this film at all
