I just was laid off from my job. I had my daughter on my health care through my employment. I need to have her put onto her father's insurance through his work now because ours ends at the end of the month. Is this something I need to get a lawyer for or can I just let him know that he needs to do this. Does it effect her child support amount that he pays her for school?

I am not a lawyer, and this is just what happened to me. You can ask your ex "pretty please" and they may or may not. You can request the court require your ex to pay the health insurance, esp. if there is a disparity in income or your child is otherwise un-insurable.
You might also have the option of continuing the child through COBRA. The judge might want to know why you cannot continue to pay the premiums as you historically have. Of course, you lost your job, so there's a change in circumstance.
It does not mean the judge will agree. And you might have to divulge some financials and prove that he is better able to pay the support. This will vary based on state law.
But please talk to a licensed lawyer, just my .02
Hope this helps,

Also you may be able to get a cheap plan through the "childs" College. There are very inexpensive and cover very basic medical.
