We were told if it broke the car lot would fix it at time of purchase. It started spilling oil out of the rusted oil pan and water pump was leaking the first day. We drove it to a mechanic shop and dropped the keys due to the weekend. After finding out Monday what was wrong we went to the dealer and they said bring it back and they would fix it. We went and picked it up and drove it back to the dealer. The next day we went to the dealer to see when the work would be complete. This is when the owner said he would pay half only of repairs and his mechanic would be the only one to fix it. He went back on his word from the day before when we returned it. He refused to just give us our money back. Are we liable for the repairs since the day we dropped it off they said they would take care of it. We have signed nothing agreeing to pay for any repairs.

If its not in writing... you don't have a warranty. Used vehicles are assumed to be an AS-IS sale in absence of a written warranty.

Try them, I know its hard... but try to smile and be nice when you go there. Go in with an attitude and they will refuse just on principle.

You know the old saying... "a verbal promise has the same value as the paper its written on?"

You haven't bought many used vehicles before , have you? A independent vehicle inspection would have turned up some of those problems... and possibly a few you don't even know about yet... if you had it done before you signed any papers.
