I have a pug and her eyes seem to get very dry and they fill with goop or puss. I continuously clean them out daily and use eye drops that I purchased over the counter to soothe the redness and dryness. The other day her right eye started to slightly bleed. I still use eye drops but it seems as if the right eye is not moist anymore even with the eye drops. Is there anything I can do without having to take her to the vet?

Your dog needs to see a vet. Eyes are not things to mess around with - this could cause an ulcer (if it hasn't already), which could lead to blindness.

Please do not use eye drops for humans on your dog. Please see a vet ASAP

Human medications are not meant for dogs. It's likely that the eye drops have made the situation worse.
There really is no other option other than the vet. If you're strapped for cash try to make arrangements for a payment plan. This is not something you can deal with at home.

I used to breed hunting dogs. They used to always get very sore eyes with sand and dirt going in them. They would puss , swell and close. I used to soak a tea bag in boiling water. When the water cools rub the tea bag on the eye in a direction outwards. The acid in the tea bag takes away any bad toxins or infection in the eye. This is an old treatment from many, many years ago. The dogs eyes should be back to normal within 24 hours. If you are not happy doing this I would seek advise from a vet.

First of all if it is not getting any better then you need to take your dog to the vet.
Second of all this is really important do not use human eye drops get dog eye drop they are avalible at pet store or if you take your dog to the vet they might give you some kind of eye drops.
Also I am very sorry about your dog hope this helps. :(

You did read that the dog's eye is bleeding, right?
The dog needs to see a Vet while the eye can still be saved. Pet shop eye drops are a very bad recommendation.

I'll fifth the going to the vet suggestion. Breeds with bulging round eyes tend to have problems with those big browns.
Taking chances with her eyes could be dangerous for her.
Ulcers on the eyes, injury, decreased tear production-leading to dry eye, blocked tear ducts, no way for us to know.
If you are trying too aggressively clean the eye you could injure to eye.
Call your vet and ask what you can do to help the situation in the meantime and please don't wait on getting in to have it checked out.

Just have to mention, this thread was started in 2011, and the OP never came back.

Is this where I post (in an enraged voice) - "Well, if someone is searching, then my answer is valuable."
Slinking away in shame because I didn't notice the date.

Na, this is where you say "Alty, you do this too! We all do! Someone has to be the smart arse and notice the date. This time it's you. Next time it will be me".
Then you end it with an evil laugh like Muwahahahahaha!
I hear that arts and crafts are great when you're enraged. Those clothespin reindeer won't make themselves you know. ;)

I feel creative. If I am still creative at Christmastime...
