I'm 14 and I have a 17 year old boyfriend. We are happy together and don't want to break up. The only problem is that in march he is going to be 18. We have not and don't plan on doing anything any time soon. I was just wondering will it still be legal for us to be together?

This is an often asked question. If you had looked in the legal boards, since this is a question about law, you would have found it answered many times.

There are no laws governing dating. Any laws about an adult (18 or over) having a relationship with a minor refer to sexual activity.

Do your parents know about your relationship? Do they approve? Beyond the laws on sexual activity, your parents can block him from seeing you if you are a minor.

I must add that a 14 yr old should just be starting dating. And limiting yourself at this stage of your life is not the best idea or very healthy. An 18 yr old will be embarking on a new stage of their life and you are still something of a child. So I don't see much future in it. However, as long as your parents are OK with it it's not illegal.

There is no legal dating age in the U.S. but I must point out that since your parents are legally responsible for you, they can get your boyfriend in all kinds of trouble with the cops, and authorities of your city, county, and state. If you are going behind their back to see each other or lying about your whereabouts, they can act against you and him, for doing things without there permission. They as parents have a right to protect their child against whatever they deem necessary, so feelings between you mean nothing, and you better think about the consequences to you both. Have you talked to your parents about this? Maybe you should.

It is illegal to have sex, and you can not date and see him without your parents permission
