Please help! We have a 15mth short legged jack russell.We"ve had him since he was six weeks and had no problems till yesterday.My husband took me to work in the afternoon and when he returned and went to pet him our dog growled and snapped at him.This happened twice more before i came home. During course of evening our dog acted very subdued for him which i"ve found so upsetting and I"m really not sure what to do. At first i thought it was a dominance issue but he even growled at me just before we went to bed. This morning he is still unusually quiet and not his normal "bouncy" "cheerful" self. I feel like all of a sudden I"m a terrible dog owner! ( He"s not neutered but funny enough I already have appt booked at vets for booster vaccination and to discuss the issue.) Any help would be so appreciated.

I think you need to know if this is a health issue before you can proceed.

Any change in behavior could indicate a serious problem.

You're not a terrible pet owner. All pets get sick at some point or another, nothing you can control. Behavior? Yes. Illness? Usually not.
