My husband has left me but we did not get divorce,, since I am not able to find him and can not afford to go through publication,,
Recently I found out he filed tax return,'married filed jointly'. I did not sign but he filed .my questionis:what can I do? Also I have a no job and want to work for the life expenses but I am afraid he will be able to find me from my next year tax Returns,, he is very abusive."

You report to IRS IN WRITING that "someone" forged your signature on the tax return. I would assume you filed married/filing separately (which he should have done) so IRS will catch up with both of you sooner or later. Until you find him and file for divorce you HAVE to file married/filing separately. Make sure that you file as an Injured Spouse, also.

If you have an abusive husband question, please post it on the legal board so you can get advice.

One other point: your husband will NOT be able to find you from your tax returns, if you file as Married Filing Separately. The IRS will not send him a copy of your return.

The reverse applies as well; the IRS will NOT notify you of his location either.
