It's almost impossible to fathom a guess as to what you should do. Do you believe what your family and friends are telling you?

What is clear is that your family and friends don't approve of him. If he's truly the bad guy they think he is, you should kick him to the curb.

I find it nearly impossible to have a relationship work out when everyone around you dislikes the other person. Quite honestly they may be seeing something that you are not. I would take a break and step back to really examine what they are saying and whether your feel that it could be true. If it is, I'd move on. Tons of fish in the sea.
