Did you have a natural labour or a C section?
It takes quite a while for any swelling to go down, most women look about 6 months pregnant for a little while after they have given birth.
If you have had a C section wait until your wound has healed and your doctor has given you the all clear, then start gently, perhaps with short walks to build up your muscle tone again. Swimming when your doctor says its OK.
If your labour was normal, you could start by a short walk, don't do anything to mad, don't forget your body has been through a lot and needs time to heal.
It has taken 9 months to produce your beautiful baby and for your body to adjust, its going to take time to go back again, for me, it took another 9 months... seriously! but everyone is different.
Eat healthy, once you get the all clear from your doctor, you can start walking ,swimming and the gym.
It will go back to normal, even if it does not feel like that now.

Just to add to what red said, if you are breastfeeding especially you won't want to cut too far back on your calorie intake. Make healthy food choices, watch portion size, and get moving on a regular basis.
