My Windows XP computer calved another hard drive. I bought a new computer with Windows 7 and now use Thunderbird instead of Outlook express. I have access to my old hard drive and would like to know if it is possible to get my address book and old emails from OE and save them in Thunderbird? Two problems at once, I know. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dan

Not quite as straightforward as you'd imagine, but doable.
On the XP machine install Thunderbird.
Part of the process is an import from OE.
This will get all of your old e-mails, address book and everything else into t'bird.
Then you will need a great app called Moz backup ( MozBackup - Backup tool for Firefox and Thunderbird (http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/) )
Simple install on and run and this will BACKUP whatever settings you want from t'bird on XP.
Copy the file created to your Win7 box, a USB stick is easiest.
On the Win7 machine you need to install Moz backup as well.
Then run it and do a RESTORE to your current t'bird.
All done.

Thanks Curlyben for the information but I guess I didn't give you enough information. I have access to the information on the original XP hard drive as I have it in a driver reader attached to my 7 computer but it will no longer power up a computer as the drive was no longer recognized by the XP computer due to ongoing problems that caused that computer to eat hard drives about every 6 months.
