The movie could be a few years old.

There is a lady who has a child from a previous marriage and then she gets married to another man. They have a baby boy/girl (can't remember which) and the mother gets sick and dies. The child from the previous marriage is not his so he has to fight for the kid. The child gets taken away from him, even though she does not want to leave, so he fights for custody.
