My husband and I just started trying to conceive for our second. We tried for 3 years with our first and she is now 8 months old. We want our children close together so we started trying again. After a doctors appointment it was stated that I should start the fertility drug "clomid" to help our chances. So at this point I have finished one cycle of clomid and we worked with my ovulation. I'm at 6 dpo and feeling super crampy. I don't get cramps before my period, normally only on days 1 and 2. also I am super crabby and emotional.

So we are wondering how high the chances are of getting pregnant on clomid? Even though it took us forever to get pregnant last time, I feel like we already are, after only one month. Could what I'm feeling be implantation cramps?
Could I be feeling symptons earlier because it may be twins? Higher hcg?

We're so confused, if anyone can help us out its greatly appreciated.

Was it determined that you weren't ovulating? Is this why your doctor suggested the clomid?

Some women do feel they experience some cramping during ovulation and implantation, however, most would never notice either. Implantation would not be complete as of yet so you would not notice a rise in hcg and therefore any symptoms of possible twins.

Cramping is not uncommon when using clomid, so it may be a side effect from its use as well.

Although not the norm, pregnancy certainly can occur the first month of trying. If not this time around, I hope it happens fairly soon for you. Good luck!

To add to what Doula said, Clomid can also cause some emotional disturbances.

Yes they weren't sure if I had the capability to ovulate. In the past hadn't had a period in 3 years, and very seldom since the birth of my daughter. Due to that (and some tests) they suggested taking clomid. I hadn't expected to get pregnant the first month because of it taking so long last time. But I sure would be a blessing if I really were. Cramping has subsided as of today. It was getting pretty uncomfortable the later in the day it got. Like a stinging twinging felling in lower abdominal/ovaries area.
