Hi, I'm wondering if these feelings are just like the normal butterflies or whether they're something worse/different...
I get them at (seemingly) random moments, for instance I was in the car with my mum, on a normal root into town, and it felt like a warm, dizzy, horrible and fluttery wave in my stomach but also in my chest, like nervousness but not, and worse, and there was absolutely no reason for it happening...
I seem to be getting these feelings quite often although not so much now as before (around 2 weeks ago it was very regular)
I'm sixteen and in year 12, so in A level year...

It would be great if I could have some answers to help me understand what these feelings are, thanks a lot

At 16 you may be feeling the wildly fluctuating effects of estrogen and progesterone, the 2 main hormones of the menstrual cycle. Each woman will have different amounts at different times (one goes way up as the other goes way down) and feel them differently. I'm not saying that this is it, of course, just that the chances are high. You could chart them along with your cycles to look for a pattern. Butterflies are also what people say when adrenaline, another hormone, is released in the 'alert' response to anxiety, a sudden fear, often called fight-or-flight. Some call feelings of intense love butterflies, or public speaking, or any number of events. We are running on endocrine glands, pretty much. Welcome to adulthood.

I just realized that I assumed you are female. My apologizes if you are male!

Thanks very much, helps a lot to know :)
And no, you assumed correctly… I hoped my name would give the idea that I'm female…
Thanks again!
