View Full Version : I like a girl a lot, we've never been together, but she has a boyfriend.

So... I've known this girl since middle school, and I'm now twenty three years old with a college degree and a job. She has always been my type; yet we've never dated and never had sexual encounters. She's wonderful, and I think I lost my chance long ago. I happened to run into her the other night and she kept looking at me, smiling, just giving me what I call "the eyes." She invited me to a New Years Eve party, and she did all of this right beside of her boyfriend. He's a really nice guy, but I personally don't think he's right for her; yet I know I'm not the right judge for that. I'm wondering if I should go to the party, and wondering even more if I should tell her how I feel. I think we would be great together, we've just never given it a shot. What I'd really like to tell her is, "leave him, hang out with me: because you know they say who you kiss on New Years is the person you'll be kissing all year." Any suggestions?

By all means, go the party, but do not make any moves on her. She has a boyfriend, and that means you do nothing to split them up. It's quite possible she has invited you because you wants to fix you up with a friend of hers.
The fact that she invited you with her boyfriend there means they have a comfortable trusting relationship. Do you really want to interfere with that?

This is the question asker... there won't be any single friends at the party. And I'm happy for her as long as she is happy. I suppose I was just hoping that someone would encourage me to express my feelings in an unharmful way: tell her that I'd like to be with her if she's not happy, and if she is happy that I'm very happy for her.

There'll be a party with NO singles at all, but somehow you are invited? I'm betting money there will be lots of other singles there and she'll introduce you round. Either that, or she expects you to do the washing up!
I'm sorry, but she has a boyfriend. If she breaks up, then yes, you can tell her how you feel. Right now, you'd just be pervy if you did.

Keep your feelings to yourself, and why did you not ask if you could bring a date? And how do you know its couples only?
Go any way and check things out, and see what happens, and respect her relationship enough to say nothing of your feelings,
You are making a huge mistake thinking her guy is not right for her, that's just wishful thinking, but reality is they are together, so your in friends zone, so don't read more into her eyes than there is. Again wishful thinking.
You can always excuse yourself if it seems a drag, or bring your own date. You never know about whom you meet, and single might be the way to go. Your choice.
