My son-in-law was arrested, My daughter needs to cancel insurance and handle his affairs for which some of the accounts are only under his name and he has not change them as of yet. She is trying to cancel her auto insurance but they will not becauise its under his name.

What kind of Power of Attorney she needs to get done in order to handle all affairs/ have full access.

Thanks

I would avoid giving a general to anyone because they could do that and anything else they wanted, (always carries a risk)... I would limit it to specific tasks. Known as a limited Power of attorney. BUT you have to know everything... because it is limited to specific tasks.

A General would actually be easiest for your daughter (she could do whatever comes up)... but puts your son-in-laws assets at greater risk.
