View Full Version : Any comments on quality of 10" rough in toilets?

I'm replacing a 10" rough in toilet in my basement. I'd like a round front bowl at comfort height with low water useage and a flush performance of 8-10 on a scale of 1-10. Any suggestions on brands and models? It seems that the 12" rough ins are far less expensive, but this isn't an option for me (off set flanges won't work without building a platform for the toilet). I'm currently looking at the American Standard Cadet 3 and the Mirabelle Braidinton. Would love to hear what kinds of experiences others have had with these toilets.

Hi Calamityann:

The Toto series of toilets is my favorite toilets for any size rough in.

The american standard cadet 3 is also a fine toilet but I have only installed 2 of them and definitely didn't get any complaints on them!

I am unfamiliar with the Mirabelle so can't comment on that.

Overall, most 10" rough in toilets work pretty darn good nowadays but you want to be sure that any toilet you purchase has a SIPHON JET hole in the bottom of the toilet bowl. Here, the siphon jet hole starts the flush by giving an initial push to the solids in the bowl... never have clogging issues with these toilets.

That's my thoughts. Any questions, just let me know, OK?
