View Full Version : My evaluation was rated as 'meets,' but I believe it is because I am a white male.

Is it possible in Illinois to have a case for reverse discrimination? My supervisor, I believe, is jealous of my performance and rapport with co-workers and clients. She had my job previously. I was given a "meets expectations" in my annual evaluation which will affect my raise; I believe I should have been rated higher in some categories. She marked me down in oral communication because she said I "looked funny at her." Do I have any recourse? This is a minority-dominated business and I am a white male.

Get familiar with your company policies. What is the procedure to challenge an evaluation? Can you consult your HR to obtain further instructions?

Definitely talk to your Human Resources Department if you want to challenge a performance evaluation.

Do remember though that "meets expectations" is not a bad evaluation. It means that you're doing your job.

If you want something to exceed expections, in most corporations you need to do something over and above "your job". Have you done anything special?
