It's been a few years since I saw it so all I remember about the storyline to the movie is this punk girl who has to do service hours-I believe-so they have her visit a cancer patient in the hospital who is a very sweet girl. However the punk doesn't seem to be too friendly to her at first. Any ideas?

This almost sounds like the movie "Home Room" but the girl in the hospital isn't a cancer patient in Home Room, she's a school shooting victim. It has to do with a shooting in their school and the punk girl has to spend time with the girl in the hospital in order to graduate. The girl in the hospital is VERY cheerful.
