I have just found out I have mumps and was wondering how common it is? I'm also worried about my daughter getting it but I read somewhere that it only affects children over one, is that correct?

No, it's not. Babies can get it, but babies who have had the MMR jab or are being breastfed are at lower risk.

Mumps used to be common, now it's less so. If you are in general good health then with reasonable care, you should get over it fairly easily.

She should be fine then.

Have mumps been confirmed? There are a few other things, like glandular fever which also produce swollen neck/face.
