Back when I was a kid, I learned how to do a version of fortune telling using 32 playing cards via word of mouth. Since then, I haven't been able to find any other information about this method. The details are below:
The suits relate to the person's complexion & hair color: Spade - Dark hair/complexion, Club - Dark hair/light complexion, Diamonds - light hair/dark complexion, Hearts - light hair/complexion
Ace = the heart
King = friend/supporter
Queen = a woman
Jack = a man
10 = strong emotion
9 = passion
8 = chaos/confusion
7 = fight/argument
The person having their fortune told thinks of their love interest & cuts the deck. The cards are then dealt into 4 stacks, each of which is checked in order dealt looking for the cards symbolizing the two lovers in question and their hearts (ie J of Spades, A of Spades, Q of Hearts, A of Hearts). Any cards on top of these 4 cards are discarded, the cards below are kept.
The kept cards are then dealt into 3 piles that are sorted using the method above.
The kept cards are then dealt into 2 piles that are sorted using the method above.
The kept cards are then dealt into a single stack (basically reversing the order of the cards)
The person for whom the fortune is being told chooses if the kept cards are dealt to the right or to the left and the cards are placed face up in an alternating order (ie first card dealt at the top, then 1 card dealt on the bottom right corner of the top card, the next dealt on the bottom left of the top card, the next dealt on the bottom right of the right card, etc)
Does anyone know anything else about this method? Where it originated? Additional rules? I've been searching but there are so many versions out there that are close but not quite... Any information on this would be great! Thanks in advance!
