I am now looking at the carb on an L130 23hp Kohler engine. There may be an issue with the fuel solenoid that mounts flat on the top of the carb. Is it possible to detach the solenoid from the carb without having to have replacement gaskets on hand for re-assembly. What exactly is the function of the solenoid in relation to fuel flow? Could this solenoid stick the way a starter solenoid sometimes does?

Hi,
The manual can be found at the link below and fuel system part starts at page 35. The fuel shutoff solenoid is at the bottom of the carb. The plate at the top is for service, the solenoid is at the bottom with the ground wire attached at the top. Care will preserve the gasket and allow reuse. The manual can be found at:
Kohler Manuals (http://www.asberry.net/Kohler.htm)
And you scroll down to the CV17-745 Service Manual - TP-2450-B. It is also at:
"K&T Parts House Lawn Mower Parts and Chain Saw & Trimmer Parts" (http://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Kohler_Service_and_Repair_Manuals/)
And scroll down to the CV`7 CV18, etc. manual.
Peace,
Clarke

Have gotten that far and even found the manual. Solenoid works on bypass so I may have jiggered up the ignition switch when I tore it apart. New one will cost less than 20 so I think I've almost unscrewed the pooch. Thanks 4 pointers. They helped

Hi,
Parts can be easily looked up at JDParts at:
http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.HomePa geServlet_Alt
I always use the Sectional Index, and under Electrical it is a #GY20074.
Peace,
Clarke
