Hi, I'm trying to find a movie I used to watch as I was younger

I don't remember much but its about a boy who travels in time to look for his grandfather or something then he ends up traveling to far in to the future but before he did he traveld to like 2005 or something and he doesn't know anything about than world you tecnology and stuff any way he gets in to truble and he meets this girl and blah blah blah he gets a scatebord and he found out she was his great great grand daughter and then he travels far in to the future and he ends up in the desert and he saw this glassbowl and people lived in it well they weren't exactly human but they had big eyes and when they went out of the glass bowl to get food they had to sacrifice one of them to get food and this boy doesn't like it so he tried to find out where they were taken and again blah blah blah it leads to an underground thing I don't know but that's all I remember
