Our 18 year old son was in a car accident in September of 2009. Our insurance companpy paid for both our cars, since they were both totalled. Our insurance company claims that it was 75% my son's fault and 25% theother driver's.The police report appeared inconclusive because witness' accounts were refuted. Now, a year later our insurance company would like permission to disclose liabilty limits to the other driver's attorney. They want settle for the limit of our coverage. The insurance adjuster recommends it.
My question is, should I give them permission to do so? If so, what happens after the insurance company settles and the other party's attorney goes for more and sues us.
I am retired and my wife is about to do so.
Shoul we get an attorney to protect our assets?
