I don't know where you are but it is generally from a drug store, but have seen it at the grocery store with other items like aspirin, cough syrup, etc.

Penaten cream - An excellent skin cream, whether used for Baby's Diaper Rash or to eliminate a skin rash for adults. (http://www.brandmeds.com/penaten_cream.html)

Since she has had it for over a week, and it still looks really sore even after using some of the usual remedies, you might want to have her checked to make sure it is actually a nappy rash and not an infection such as a yeast infection, which you would need to treat differently.

Yes, that is correct.

One thing I forgot to ask...

Is the baby on antibiotics?

Also, plain old corn starch works very well for nappy rashes, including yeast/thrush.

You're all going to think I'm nuts, but it really does work. My son had thrush for the first 8 months of his life, and he used to get diaper rashes that bleed. My doctor recommended eye wash. Yes, eye wash. It works like a charm. One use and the rash was already much better.

Bausch & Lomb: Collyrium for Fresh Eyes, Eye Wash (http://www.bausch.com/en_US/consumer/visioncare/product/drops/collyrium.aspx)

Doesn't have to be this brand, just an example. You can find them at any pharmacy. I got mine at Walmart.

It was a godsend for us. Just put a bit on a cotton swab, wipe it on, don't be stingy. Let it dry, and then a bit of powder and re-diaper. Use after each diaper change.

I found that creams where great for preventing a rash, but not so great at getting rid of one once it started.
