Is schitzophrenia related to personality disorder

Schizophrenia (295.xx, DSM-IV-TR*) is a distinct diagnosis (Axis I)... Personality Disorder(s) are a separate diagnosis (Axis II). Each would have a different syndrome (cluster of symptoms). Of course there could be some overlap of symptoms depending on type of Personality Disorder, i.e. schizotypal. But they are very different conditions.

I don't mean to baffle you with terms and numbers. Just included the references in case you wanted to do additional research.

*DSM-IV-TR = Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV, Text Revision, American Psychiatric Association. This is the most frequently used psychiatric reference for diagnosis.
