If my tomcat is in the house and I am eating he will come up to me like a dog and beg for it! What am I supposed to do?

Cats are smart. They will beg if it's there. He has you trained. We just rescued a cat from our back yard earlier this week, and already she knows the sound of the can opener, will race upstairs from a sound sleep in her bed near the furnace in the basement to make sure she gets her share.

Do you feed him canned or dry cat food? If so, does he eat it?

When we have McDonald's, I always peel off the breading and chop up McNuggets for Rasputin. Little Debbie demands a spoonful of someone's vanilla shake. All of them love Arby's beef. When I roast a turkey or chicken, I always save some (plus broth) for the cats. When I make tuna or salmon salad and squeeze out the liquid in the can, I save it for the cats and will toss in some bread cubes so it goes farther.

A treat now and then is fine, but don't give the cat any bones, and don't overdo so that the cat won't eat his own food.

If you don't want your cat begging, then don't give in. ignore him. If he continues, or gets aggressive about it (climbing on your lap/table, pawing at you, etc), you can spray him with water.

Just let him have a little bit. My cat is very close to me and has got very very needy as we have had a few changes. So he started begging - in fact he jumped up and licked all the mayonnaise off my plate when I was using it as a dip with potato chips. Nextime I was eating potato chips he ate them when I dropped them on the floor. He prefers things on the floor or on a plate at the bottom of my feet or eat off my plate when I am done.Gross I know but I don't mind now. I give him chicken in his bowl every time we have it and pull off skin from Kentucky and battered fish etc. It's pretty funny really. My cat is a pure bred and eats cat (vet biscuits) kibbles, and quality different flavoured food from pouches. Anyway if a cat gets lost they with forrage for anything out of garbage. They used to eat anything years ago like when I was a kid.
