Help, I'm a single mother waiting for child support. I rented a house and the second day there realized the freezer was hot, and the food was going bad. I had just spent several hundred dollars on the groceries, when I asked the landlord to immediately send a rental frig or something, in order not to loose the food. Three days later, he bought a new cheaper smaller new frig.
Then step brother comes for visit and sees that the dishwasher has leak into the junction box and that two computers are fried, one computer was on loan to us. Dishwasher has been unusable for the week, frig was for three days.
Is the landlord in anyway financially responsible for any of our loss? We live in Mo. By the way...
Thanks in advance!

You would have been covered had you had renter's insurance. But from the sounds of your disasters - no, the landlord does not have to pay for your disasters.
Why didn't landlord send a repairperson?

It is not always possible to get things fixed the same day.
You should have taken food to a friends house, put it in ice chests or other ideas.
And no the landlord is not responsible

The property has a commercial business on it, and he said he knew the freezer didn't work, but after being off for a few months. Plugged it in and it was slightly cold, so he said that he thought it worked. Cooler didn't have nuff room

The owner admitted that the freezer had not worked in the past, but because it was unplugged for a few months and then got cold he figured that it then worked. If he would have told me, I would not have stocked the freezer. There are three places on the property and the car shop's furnace went bad and the same owner threw two electric heaters in the door and said, "good luck with that" I don't want to buy a new furnace, the car shop had to move because of lack of heat.
I want a new landlord... Lol.. Oh, and now we have a dishwasher that leaks into an electric box and he refuses to fix that too.

Landlord said that he would send a repair person if I paid an additional deposit of $2400. First he wanted little money to get in, then he said he wants, first, last security, and pet deposit equal to one months rent. We have a Shetland sheepdog.
