The book I'm trying to remember the name of is about a boy who had a wagon full of kittens of different colors and was going around finding homes for them, from what I can remember. I think there were two black ones, a white one and for sure an orange tabby along with some others. I believe he got to keep one in the end. I loved this book and would love to find out the name. Hardback book from the 70's.

Could it be One Kitten for Kim. He finds homes for the kittens but the people who take them also give him something, so he returns home with a wagon full of things. Very cute book.

One Kitten for Kim
Adelaide Holl ~ Don Madden ~ Addison-Wesley, 1969

Sooooo, Kim's cat Geraldine has kittens, see? And his mom insists he must get rid of them. That he can only keep one kitten, so he loads up the kittens into a basket and the basket into a wagon and goes in search of a new home for each. Only everyone he finds to give a kitten away to, gives him something in exchange. A comedy of errors of sorts, it ends on a delightfully-oblivious defiant note...
