I know you go to general dr and then he tells you where to go.. but that would be a waste of money. So I rather go to a specialist directly. What doctors deal with musco skeletal problems? Orthopedic?

The problem I have with orthopedics I've seen so far( for other problems) is that they seem to suggest surgery immediately. They don't try natural approaches.

The problem I've been having for 2 weeks is I wake up from sleep at night with extreme chest pain, cramps. I don't even know why. Then during the day I'm all sore and in pain and can't move very much.
I'm male in my early 30s

It can work both ways. A general practitioner (internist) can be better than a specialist and cheaper, especially if the problem isn't considered interesting enough for the specialist. But you could have something wrong that is more than musculo-skeletal. I really would start with the internist, who is well equipped to handle typical muscle strains and would sign you up for PT. But such pain from lying down has me wondering if this isn't some sort of hernia or organ collapse or heart related ailment or something that just feels muscular.

And I had a friend who had severe chest and back pain that turned out to be pneumonia! No cold, no coughing. Get thee to that regular doctor! A nurse with a stethescope just for starters.
