I have a client who wants to get internet service to busy, but cannot. The phone company has been telling him he cannot without a clear explanation. Well recently two neighboring business got DSL service, but the phone company still tells him that he can't. So I got involved and called the phone company myself. They said that they run a test from the centrol office to his phone lines and determine that his line is not capable. So I asked them if that was the inside wiring or the line to the business, and they said the iniside wiring. Unfortunately the lady wasn't able to tell me why the inside wiring failed. So, can someone explain why a wiring would fail the test? And if we need to pull a new wire, what type of wire do we need to make it phone and data compatible? Thanks

This might help you understand the things that may be bad with your inside wiring:

how can my dsl line be good up to the house yet bad on the inside? DSL FAQ | DSLReports.com, ISP Information (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/316)

Basically the fewer splices and splits the better, use moderen twisted pair wire, and try to keep the wiring away from things that could cause electromagnetic interference (like fluorescent lights and large electric motors). Frankly I am a bit surprised that the telco test can discern that there's an issue with the inside wiring vas opposed to the outside plant. To verify, you might consider temporarily disconnecting the inside wiring at the demarcation point, and then have the telco rerun their test.
