If someone entered a marriage in sin (pre-martial sex, adultery)... and has confessed that sin to God and received forgiveness, are they biblically required to divorce in order to truly repent and turn away from the sin? Or would divorcing be adding another sin on top of it all. I appreciate your strictly biblical answers and scripture references if you have them.

You would be compounding it by divorcing. Thought this is more suited to the religion forum... than the divorce forum.

Marriage is not a sin, it is God's will. Getting married would be part of the repenting.

Also confess the sin and move on, don't think about it again, once forgiven it is forgiven, you don't need to remind God of it over and over.

Agreeing with both posts, Divorce will only make it worse. If you married for LOVE, that is the greatest gift. If you have asked for forgiveness, move on. Assuming forgiving a sin in LOVE will fly with the Lord.

It all depends on your particular religion.

Thank you for your replies. I am a Christian, and I am really trying to line up my life with Gods Will. I will try the religious forum. Thank you again
