I've just bought a yorki girl pup, 3 months. She is still black and tan. On her head she has sparse hair that is black growing out which is silver, and seems to have a shorter tan colour between these long sparse hairs? The rest of her body is fine... she looks completely like a yorkie... is ths normal?

Also she is registered with the companions club with the kennel club, this isn't KC registered, but does anyone know if only pedigree pups can join the companions club? I'm now worried she is a cross breed, although she doesn't really like one

There are a lot of dog breeds that change color as they grow.

Silver Poodles are actually born completely black, Dalmations are born completely white, and yep, you guessed it, Yorkies change color as they grow as well.

The undercoat would most likely be puppy coat and she will develop that silky shine as she matures.

I'm not much help with American Registries but I am pretty sure if they aren't Pedigree AKC parents, the puppies cannot be registered with the full AKC register.
