Finally started to date one of my friends who I've had a crush on for a long time. We have been out a couple times since we decided to start dating but its been with other people so hasn't really been that much different than when we were friends except the fact we were together. Well tonight we are going to go to dinner by ourselves so it will give us a chance to be alone and talk. I'm really nervous cause I want everything to go great. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do to make this the perfect dinner date?

Thanks!

Firstly- remind yourself that your date already likes you and you him! Don't stress too much, the first few moments might feel a bit awkward but you'll both warm up and get into the swing of it. I find sometimes it's worth being really honest and letting them know you're nervous!

If you think it would help, have a couple of topics for conversation that you think might be engaging or interesting to you both, make sure you ask them what they think. A few good amusing anecdotes always get conversation rolling.

Also there will likely be occasional conversational lulls, let the pause take place with some level of comfort, then ask an open question which is a question which can't be answered with a yes or no response. As an example, and I don't suggest you use this: "What's your earliest childhood memory?" You want to get to know them better, so try to get a good balance of listening and talking!

Good luck with your date, I'm sure it's going to go very well.
